Come join us as we build a giant flower mandala on Revere Beach! This is a continuation of a project initiated by a dear friend of ours, who gave us care of this project for this year. This will be the sixth year for this project.

Come celebrate summer and create some art with us!

Mandalas are geometric designs which are a symbolic representations of the world, the universe, etc, typically created within certain religious traditions often for purposes of meditation. They are cosmic diagrams.

Where to find us: We will meet near Wonderland station out on the beach starting around 11am. Someone from Integral Arts will be there all day, as this project will be ongoing throughout the day. Look for a blanket spread out full of lots of flowers and greenery, and a giant round shape carved in the sand.

What to expect: This is a participatory project, and each person’s input is valuable and important. A general outline/template for the mandala will be drawn early on by Integral Arts, and from there, people will be invited to add to it in whatever way that calls to them. Anyone can contribute by adding flowers, greenery, organic materials, found objects, shells, rocks, or drawings in the sand, and more. In an exercise in letting go, we will then gather and watch our creation be washed away by the sea and disappear. High tide will be around 5pm so our mandala should be entirely washed away by then. Feel free to drop in anytime throughout this timeframe, and come and go as much as you like.

What to bring: Please help us out by bringing something to contribute to the mandala! Our mandala will be more special if everyone contributes something special. Flowers, bouquets, leaves, greenery, stones, shells, any other biodegradable, natural materials are all welcome. Bringing something special from your own garden is also very much encouraged. Additionally, it’s always good to bring sunblock, snacks, and drinks, and anything else you need to enjoy your day at the beach.
